Welcome back to Pawso Robles, campers!  Oak Canyon’s the perfect location for those who’d like to trial their hearts out, then relax with a nice road walk or trail hike. Cycling is also an option. Santiago Canyon Road winds back for miles….The Irvine Lakes complex is right next door (though we have no access from Oak Canyon), so if you want to fish or rent a boat, you’re in luck (there's also a small café and store there). Don't forget we'll have great BBQ dinners at the trial site Fri. and Sat. nights. Come on, make plans to stay! Work can wait for mañana!

Exhibitor Parking and Set-up

Agility Exhibitors:
All exhibitors, whether trialing in Agility, or Obed./Rally, kin park in our main gravel lot. Gates will open at 6am Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. Git there before then and we will ask you to make the coffee! Official-looking parking folks (identified by vests or colored shirts) will stop you on the entry road, and direct you to the correct parking area. Please be nice to them, or you may end up in the Hoosegow, and miss your runs! We hate to micro-manage, but it's such a big show we have to do some wranglin'.

An unloading zone will be provided, just outside the main entry gate of the trial site. You will be asked to unload your gear, and leave it in a secure holding area there while you go park your vehicle. You may not leave your vehicle in the unloading zone while you go set up! Please bring wheels, and some patience, and plan a little time to walk down the angled driveway and out to the rings. If you know you're going to need a helping hand, or you have an elderly dog who can't walk far, let us know ahead of time, and we'll do our best to provide extra hands.  Several Handicap parking spaces will be designated in the asphalt area just outside the main gate for those displaying valid Handicap tags. Visitors from the public may also park in the main lot, space permitting (we will open the overflow lot if need be).

Obed./Rally Exhibitors:
Obed./Rally exhibitors only kin park closer to their rings in a designated area in the Little Oaks field, around back where the RVs are. There is no unloading zone here. If you need handicap parking or extra help, just let us know ahead of time!

Set-Up Thurs. March 3rd, 2011:  The magic hour for exhibitor set-up is 3pm. At this point on Thurs., you will be able to drive down the angled driveway to a ringside unloading area (obed./rally exhibitors, you will be directed to the end of the road nearest your rings). We will ask you to unload your gear in this safe area, then drive around the loop to park you vehicle, before returning to complete your set-up. Do not leave your vehicle in the unloading zone while you set up! If you leave your vehicle here while you go set-up we will claim it for the raffle! This same area will be available for load-out on Mon. after agility runs are finished.

Ranchhand Parking Passes!

We know many of you have large set-ups, and appreciate any convenience offered. For a small fee, we're offering first-in set-up time of 12 noon on Thurs. Mar. 3rd, convenient ringside unloading, and a guaranteed parking spot in the Ranchhand parking area Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. This area is on the asphalt, just outside the main entry gate. You will be emailed a numbered pass prior to the trial. Please display this as you come in, and you will be directed to the correct parking area. You don't need to go through the unloading zone...you'll be right next to it! Cost is $25; please see the FunStuff! page for ordering and payment options. Git right on it, we only have about 25 of these to offer, and we sold out last year.

RV and Tent Camping!

Little Oaks is the name of our RV  and Tent Camping field, and it's at the east boundary of our Oak Canyon trial site. It's separated by a 6' chainlink fence from the competition area, and one is able to walk in through openings. Though grassy, the ground is hard, and supports cars and RVs just fine. There's some lovely trees for shade, trimmed high enough to allow RVs underneath. The area is flat, and has a concrete entrance. You get there by following the road around the back of the property (rather than turning left into the gravel lot). We're planning to park all our RVs,  tenters, obed./rally exhibitors, committee members, various helpers and vendors in Little Oaks.

Dry camping is what we have to offer. Wish we could offer power, but the cost is prohibitive. Fresh water is available, but there is no dump station on site. We have made arrangements with a pumper truck the last few years, to come through once during the trial. Details available on the Camping Reservation Form. Tent campers, if you're willing to brave 4 days without a warm shower, you're on! Tenting areas will be clearly designated ahead of time, and we'll ask you to observe posted quiet hours. We'd also like to remind you extreme wind conditions are a possibility. We will be limiting the number of tent spaces available.

When you make a camping reservation, we'll confirm it for you via email. Then, when the show closes in Feb., we'll send out a welcome letter along with your assigned RV parking spot. If any of you have concerns about your parking location (i.e.heavy Class A folks), please feel free to contact Camp Boss Teri.

Here's some things everybody's gonna ask:

*What if it rains?*
Light to moderate rain won't be a problem. If it really pours right before the show, and there's 6" of water sitting in Little Oaks, we might have to go to our well-thought-out Plan B. This would likely involve RVs parking in the main gravel lot where they did last year. The managing company tells us they would deny access to that field only under extreme conditions.

*How do I make my camping reservation, and how do I pay for it?*
You can pay for your camping reservation through our Pawso Pre-Order online store, found on the FunStuff! page. You must also fill out a Camping Reservation Form (see link top of this page), and return it to the Camping Coor.. You can save it as a Word doc., fill it in, save it again, then return it via email to Camp Boss Teri at teri22ns@att.net. Or, you can print it out, fill it in and fax it to her at 310-539-1577. Or, you can print it out, fill it out and mail it to:
Teri Meredyth, Camping Coor.
PO Box 4333, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA. 90274
Please make your checks out to BTCSC, and send them via snailmail to the address above, along with your form.  If you're also reserving meals, t-shirts, parking passes, CGC or CERF clinic, you can use one check to cover everything.

*What if I send in my reservation and payment, then can't come?*
You give us as much notice as you can, and we'll give you as much of a refund as we can! You'll contact Camp Boss Teri about this.

*Are you going to post arrival and set-up times?*
Durn right we are! And departure times too! Please check back on the Howdy page for this info, as the trial dates near.

*Do we need to be concerned about wildlife at the site?*
Yes, though in previous years we've had no problems at all. At Oak Canyon, wildlife have the right-of way. You should expect to see coyotes, rabbits, squirrels, skunks and various normal spiders and bugs. You may see bobcats, foxes, and even mountain lions. Rattlesnakes are also a possibility, though it will probably be too cold for them to be out and about the beginning of March. Please don't leave food outside your rig, and don't leave your dogs unattended in x-pens in the main gravel parking lot!

Tent Camping Inside the Park:
We will have a limited number of designated tent spaces inside the park. These will be over a little rise from the West Field (rings 1 and 2), and in back of the pond (between the West and East Fields). There are mature trees in these areas, providing shade and privacy. The advantage of this option is you only need one set-up! Park and play! We will make sure the bathroom building is left open all night.

Car Camping in the Parking Lot:
Some folks have cool canopies which attach to their rigs…others just like sleeping in their cars! Yes, you may do this, but we ask you to register with us , and park in a designated camping spot. It’s important for insurance reasons we know who’s staying on site.

$$ Dinero, Companero!$$
The nightly fee fer parkin’ your rig will be $10. We’re pleased to offer a trial package of $35 for all 4 nights (Thurs. thru Sun.). You can download our reservation form, or contact our Camping Coordinator, and they will fax or mail one to you. First-come, first-served, Amigos!
